In a world of constant change, recovery, and rebirth, the Tour de Nez is no exception. From its birth as a tiny coffeehouse party with an impromptu bike race thrown in as pure fun, to a three venue, multi-state, multi-stage race, and now back to its roots as a downtown Reno criterium on the USA Cycling calendar for pros, aspiring pros, nationally-ranked amateurs, and the average Joe and Josephine who want to see how they do in a real race. The supporting organization, Tour De Nez Outreach, has expanded to include the Little City Stage Race in its sphere of events. The Tour de Nez Criterium and the Little City Stage Race [with a criterium, time trial, and road race format in two days] will shine the cycling spotlight on Reno and Minden. That spotlight shows the cycling world what Northern Nevada has to offer them.
The Tour de Nez says something about innovation and recovery. It was one of the only races to offer prize money for women racers. It has hosted the largest field for handcyclists in the United States, becoming the championship event for those racers. It has been a favorite part of the pro careers for several men and women racers, some right from our own backyard, like Reno’s own Will Lachenauer, USA Handcycling Champion or Amber Pierce, Reno High graduate and NCAA Champion, and some from around the country [like Tony Cruz, Long Beach, CA, USPRO National Criterium Champion and USA Olympic team], and Alex Candelario [“Cando is the best leadout guy in North America”—Jonas Carney, Performance Director, Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies pro team].
Everything the Tour de Nez is known for, from the Pros to clunkers to kids and wanna-bes, will still be there. Come ride, come watch, come party, come support a great community event – be a part of the Tour de Nez.

Meet up w/team Audi and join us on the Sunday Drop Ride: 9am from Bibo on Foothill south of town Franktown Loop x3. This is a fast drop ride. EVERYONE is welcome, just know that this ride will be full of racers looking to attack and demonstrate their self-assumed superior power and fitness from start to finish. We do re-group 3 times with EVERYONE on the ride. Generally the group breaks up into 3-4 groups on the road. The clockwise laps around Franktown allow for re-joining the front or other groups if you fall off the pace. It’s really a great time and good measure of where you are relative to your peers.
Total ride time 2-2.5 h.. You are welcome to add miles afterwards.
